Tom and Helen Wheeler are the founders of Changing Families Ministries (www.ChangingFamilies.com) helping single-parent families and stepfamilies achieve a “new normal”. Their goal is to break the generational curse of divorce through bible based classes, counseling and service to the Family Court. Helen is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of South Carolina. She is the founder of the Center for Families, LLC, in which she has a varied and active practice as a counselor, parent coordinator, co-parenting coach and Family Court Mediator (certified by the SC Supreme Court). Helen was a single mom for 9 years. Tom is a former youth worker of 29 years and has worked in maximum security prison ministry. In addition to his duties as Executive Director of Changing Families, a 501.c.3 non profit corporation, he is also founding Chairman of the Advisory Board for the Parent Educator Network, sponsored by the Exchange Club Center and Trident United Way of Charleston, SC.

Tom and Helen are Congregational Spiritual Development consultants for the SC Baptist Convention and are frequently sought as presenters at the Convention’s EPIC Conferences. The Wheelers are members of the national stepfamily focus group and are national facilitators of the single parent family focus group for the Association of Marriage and Family Ministries (www.AMFMonline.com) in Phoenix, AZ. They have presented extensively at the national AMFM, Center for Single Parent Families, SAM and NASAM conferences and have been published in the SAM Journal, AMFM website, Focus on the Family, and Living Solo magazines. Their insights on troubled marriages have attracted national attention as they conduct seminars and help start single parent and stepfamily ministries in local churches.
